ROY — Roy scored five goals in the second half to beat Bonneville Monday.

Spencer Anderson, Gunner Erickson, Kaden Bingham, Cooper Green and TJ Moore all got on the Royals scoresheet after the Lakers and Royals went to halftime tied 0-0.

Ryley Allred and Christian Montanez combined for the shutout in goal for Roy.

VIEWMONT 2, SYRACUSE 0

SYRACUSE — Preston Pitt and Lorince Essig scored in the first half as Viewmont beat Syracuse 2-0 on the road.

LOGAN 2, MORGAN 1

MORGAN — A second-half goal by Logan dealt Morgan a 2-1 home loss on Monday.

CLEARFIELD 8, MURRAY 3

MURRAY — Clearfield scored five runs in the second inning that propelled the Falcons to a win in their season-opener.

Rachael Brown and Perri Winterbottom each had two hits, a double and three RBIs for Clearfield. Braxtyn Haynes pitched four innings and struck out eight batters.

WOODS CROSS 13, JUAN DIEGO 1

WOODS CROSS — Woods Cross exploded for eight runs in the third inning to down Juan Diego at home Monday. Freshman pitcher Jade Valdez tossed three shutout innings with six strikeouts to get the win.

The Wildcats cracked 11 hits with seven different players notching at least one RBI. Jess Wall went 1 for 3 at the plate with two RBIs; Ari Ayala, Sadie Bevan, Julana Te’o and Elizabeth Busdicker each had two hits.

MORGAN 14, EAST 8

SALT LAKE CITY — Brooke Loertscher went 4 for 5 with two doubles and four RBIs as Morgan doubled up East on the road Monday. Rachel Edgington went 3 for 5 with an RBI, falling a home run shy of the cycle while Danielle Cook went 2 for 3 with two stolen bases and two walks.

Roy at Logan: Will be contested at Roy High on Tuesday, March 13, 3:30 p.m., instead of at Logan High, per athletic director Mike Puzey.

ROY — Roy improved to 2-0 in non-region play with a run-rule-shortened win over Providence Hall. Chris Porm was the winning pitcher, throwing three shutout innings for the Royals.

Brody Perkes and Jack Hulce each had two hits while Alex Alejendre hit a 3-run home run.

RIVERTON 3, LAYTON 2

LAYTON — Layton scored twice in the fourth inning to cut Riverton’s lead to 3-2, but couldn’t close the gap all the way in a home loss Monday.
